What makes a family?
For some children, a family is their mother, father and brother and sisters. But for many children in Ethiopia, a family is the people who live with them and support them. For many children effected by HIV/AIDS, the new head of their house is a grandmother, uncle or adult friend. Our House 2 House family sponsorship takes care of families with at least one adult and up to four children.
This sponsorship is key in supporting the exhausted Ethiopian societal network stretched to the limit by HIV/AIDS. Your sponsorship allows children to continue to live in their family, extended family, or with neighbors. Children retain their familial and cultural ties, and have some stability and consistency. Because of the sponsorship, they are fed, attend school, visit the doctor and receive medicine. Many of the children would not otherwise be able to stay in their neighborhood or have their basic needs met, despite the best intentions of the friends and family. This fantastic program is run byour Ethiopian partner organization, Faya Orphanage, through their House 2 House program.
