David Thompson Secondary School in Invermere, BC, is getting on board with fundraising for Vulnerable Children Society.
The dynamo Leadership class, taught by Bev McEwen, took Vulnerable Children on as one of the deserving societies they are raising money for this year.
The purpose of the Leadership class is to foster global awareness in individual students, through involvement in local, regional and international agencies. Fund-raising comes through group participation in community events-such as the town’s craft fair November 20th- through to the DTSS winter formal (“Snow Ball”) , where proceeds have gone to the Stephen Lewis Foundation, the Canadian Network of International Surgery and Red Cross/Haiti Emergency fund.
This year, Vulnerable Children Society, Free to Play and CNIS, as well as the local food bank, will be recipients of DTSS Leadership funding.
